Around Manchester

7-14
At the Airport

I got a backpack 100% full of electronics and such [digital camera, 3 lenses, 20 batteries, 2 PDAs, big MP3 player, headphones, GPS, chargers; adapters...] all the way through security, but they decide to hand inspect Sylvia purse because of a metal tin of mints they couldn't make out on Xray.

Philadelphia

Made it to Philadelphia without major incident. We had a nice little oriental foodcourt meal, and they even had chpstix for me. We got about 3 hour layovers, so nothing is rushed, no stress.

Found outlet to charge Ipaq. I got a WORLD program on it, so I had hooked it up to GPS, wedged GPS under window shade to keep it facing outward. I was able to have it plot dots for Houstonand Philly and then a blinking dot for our location. Then it would tell me distance to destination when I marked Philly as destination. Wicked! We were about 40,000 ft and going 528 mph according to my equipment!

7-16
Manchester

We made it to Manchester just fine. We feel real confident we did well picking it as our base.

The hotel is a little less then we expected, I don't ever rememeber eading it was without airconditioning! We do have our windows openthe maximum of six inches. The room is also equiped with an oscillating fan. I took it apart to improve its performance, and was succesful.

We found a nice Italian resteraunt for last night, and got some good walking after that. We took a 3-4 hour nap to help us get rid of jet lag.

The hotel also advertised internet, but its not free, a ridiculously high fee, so we need to find an internet cafe.

Today we are off to Glascow. Tomorrow is Liverpool.
