Determine area based on Mass!

Interesting lab

Get poster board, cut 4 various sized rectangles per student group, then cut one 'odd-shaped' piece that would be very difficult to determine the area of.

Student measure sides and multiply = area of each rectangle. They also take mass of each rectangle.

Plot Area vs Mass. Now they have a line for that material, so now they can mass the weird shape and find its area on the line produced.

You can give questions about other sizes, small ones and big ones.
