I'm a Science teacher in ANONYMOUS ISD, north of Houston, Texas. I made a career switch and went through an Alternative Certification Program and began teaching in fall of 2003. I spent the 2005-2006 school year doing one year of extreme professional development. I was also one of 3 US teachers to visit Tajikistan in the Spring of '06. Europe 5 Days Away
Amsterdam, Prague, Overnight Sleeper Train across Germany, Paris for 24 hours, and London
OOPS: Planned a day in Paris just to go to Louvre, its a TUESDAY - Louvre closed on Tuesdays! Musee D' Orsay instead I guess.
Musee d'Orsay is pretty darn cool, too. I loved the pastels kept in semi-darkness. The building, itself is worth going.
Notre Dame is cool as is the Eiffel Tower from a structural standpoint. Centre Pompidou is cool also--just walk around it. If you have time, Versailles is gorgeous--we made it in enough time to just catch the Hall of Mirrors (impressive now that they're restored), but you could tour the grounds until dusk, which should be quite late in the summer. That's my unsolicited advice.
I'm interested to see how the sleeper train goes. I did Moscow-Paris (with a few stops) back when it started in the Soviet Union, so it was horrifying. But the train experience can't be beat even when it's gross. ;)

Have fun!
When did you guys decide to go to Europe?
At the end of last month. She pulled some funds from 401k to assist family members, freeing up our normal vacation funds. Be back on 25th
Yeah Kate, d'Orsay will meet our needs but no cameras!
