First let me preface this with I know I couldn't do this with every class I have, especially the freshman.Okay, on Monday I had some boys in my preAP Chemistry class tell me they didn't understand any of the lesson that day because they couldn't HEAR me. WHAT A CROCK!
It bothered me though and had me thinking last night a lot, because I was going to have that class today. I determined last night I was going to make a solid effort to teach the class for atleast 30 minutes without me saying a single word!
I WENT

MINUTES!I reviewed predicting products in chemical reactions (double displacement with two ionic compounds) and introduced balancing equations - no voice, just hand singles, facial expressions, chalk and the board. No other technology! It was so exciting!
Every teacher has to find one class to try this with!
When I finally spoke, I let them know why I was doing this "to teach ya'll you don't have to HEAR me to learn" and then a students burst out "yeah, you just have to pay attention to what you are doing". I could not have asked for a better outburst!

You should have asked me for pointers (oof, did I actually say that?). I've been told that all I do is point because I am such a bad teacher. Forget my teachpad and powerpoints and all the cool things I do. All I do is mime.
