Planet B-Boy

Went downtown to the Angelika theatre yesterday with two students to take them to see Planet B-Boy movie. Again, here's two kids who have been in Houston atleast 5 years and have never been downtown until yesterday.

We saw the movie and the 3 of us made up 60% of the audience! Real niche movie and it was showing at 5:50pm downtown on a Wednesday....

Since it was a adventure for them I wanted to make it a memorable experience, so I took them to Hard Rock Cafe since it was around the corner. Since I knew it was their first Hard Rock experience, I dropped some AMEX to pick the up the classic t-shirts.

Parking $6
Movie Tickets $23
Hard Rock Meal $43
Two Hard Rock T-shirts $43
Taking these two kids on hopefully an unforgetttable evening - priceless!

(The best part, only one kid was my student, the other was his dance buddy, who I just met that night, so basically a complete stranger, except I had seen him perform at a school talent show thing)

You really are a wonderful teacher!

I used to not understood when people took field trips to Kemah or somewhere else. I was like, what's the educational value of that? Until I realized that lots of these kids have never been outside their neighborhoods, let alone downtown or anywhere like that.
