Expanding DVR SA 8300HD Acomdata 1TB eSATA puredrive
Okay, he we go.
I got one of these:
from Comcast (was Time Warner) and I filled it up with about 41 recordings.
Research on the internet said I could add an eSata drive and get it to use external storage. The recommended one was 500Gb from Western Digital, the MyBook DVR Expander or something like that $199 at BestBuy.I was hoping eSata was eSata! I found a clearance 2.5" HD enclosure that had USB & eSata and INCLUDED all necessary cable for $14.95. See, most eSata drives don't bring the cables, so that was usually almost $20 for eSata cable - so I saved money buying the extra kit with cable, so I still have a nice drive enclosure for some future project!
Brought everything home, hooked it up and nothing noticeable happened. I read that might happen! So I turned off drive and then screen popped up saying a device was disconnect incorrectly! Hey, it knew it was there! So I turned it back on, got a message now asking if I wanted to format it! YES! And in a few seconds and maybe one more on-off, I ended up going from 99% full, to 11% full!
So now I have a little box like this next to my DVR that I may just hide behind it and forget that it is there!
