Twist on testing

Tried this with my preAP Chem class yesterday, seemed to work okay

Chem classes are studying gas laws, which is basically math/formulas

Originally I had a 49 question multiple choice test generated from textbook software. I decided preAP needed to really work some problems, as that what emphasis had been in classwork.

I made a one page 5 problem test to give them. Also gave the the multiple choice test, I was able to offer it electronically using CPS, but scantron would be just as easy.

The multiple choice part was optional. For each one that they got right, I would add 1 point to their test grade, of course maximum grade allowed is still 100.

Since the problems were basically worth about 20 points each, I think its going to work out fairly. So if you understood the concepts and were just bad at math/formulas...you had a chance for up to 49 points to be added.

The ONLY thing I liked about teaching chem was the math. Stoichiometry and gas laws! YAY!
