What is it like to be my student this week?

Well this week, if you are an IPC student you may have watched a model rocket take off and then time it to crash land, so we can use time and acceleration due to gravity to calculate height it fell from (altitude).

Then you might have made straw rockets in an attempt to understand F=ma better, and try to beat the 24.25 meter record of prior students I've had.

Plus you've watched a video on Sir Issac Newton

My big IPC class would have gone too crazy with the Rockets, so instead they made catapults based on mousetraps to shoot mini-marshmellows.

The winners - 15meters (count the fingers!)

If you're in Chemistry, you spend Monday doing a webquest on Atoms and their structure;

you've made atoms with the CPO Atom game.

To help you learn where things are on the periodic table, you also played Periodic Table Bingo

As a teacher - what I like is that there really is not a big gender gap, the girls do just fine in my classes, where I think the stereotype is girls don't do so well in science class, or get excited.

Glad to see that your students assume the same video watching position as mine do.
