Still alive

I've been busier than ever in my career. I used to just get by because I had a gift and was able to do better than average without any outside effort, or I had easier deadlines to meet in my career.

This is totally different, I am actually trying to be the best I can be! The problem, is I haven't let go of my 'self entertainment' habits. No, not talking about masterbation! I have the bad habit of just 'doing stuff' on the computer, such as finding things to download, or watching too many movies or interesting things I download. Like right now, I watch ROME and 'My name is Earl' every week. Plus I'm into the TEACHERS series from the BBC as well, and the first season of NY-LON, also from the BBC. I have nice computers and a nice entertainment system so I spend time on them, otherwise they were a waste of money, right?

I get a lot of use out of my PVR system. PVR are like a homemade TIVO. PVR stands for personal video recording. I have dedicate dcomputer hooked up to our TV/Cablebox. It has a video capture card and gets a signal from the cable box and has the ability to tell the cable box what channel to change to! So I run software on that computer that makes it like a VCR. I go to TitanTV.com and it knows what my cable system can do then I search for hows about science, Shakira, the 1935 movie "The Story of Louis Pasteur". Right now I'm trying to get all the remade COSMOS series. So every week I have to sit down and see what I have, what I need and shen I peek at a show to see what its about, I end up watching 55 minutes of it! I should have been reading an assignment or grading papers.

Finally getting extremely excited about my teaching situation. There are 4 of us in the program, but we just all didn't mix so well. Myself and two more are extremely like minded are do so well together. We convinced our boss that it was best for everyone if we could be a team and do what we wanted and the 4th would be best doing their own thing. We're glad to help, but we don't need someone slowing us down! They just caused a lot friction, and have very different opinions about teaching and feelings about our student population. Now that the three of us are tackling all our problems and challenges together, we can do anything. We happy and look forward to everyday now! We going to be doing a lot of team teaching. Like tomorrow, we know that teacher number one is doing the first 30 minutes, teacher number 2 is doing a 50 lab, and I'm doing a 15 minute quiz at the end using the remotes (CPS from eInstruction.com).

This coming weekend, Ashley is coming to visit from St. Louis, home of the team the Astros just beat tonite to earn a trip to the World Series. Sylvia, McKenzie and I are also planning on going to Renaissance Festival.

Friday we are going to Quest High School in Humble to observe for the day. Next week we go to CAST conference Thu/Fri/Sat. Last month I got to go to TESTA conference in Fort Davis (Big Bend Park) for 4 days. Last week spent part of day at Nanotechnology conference at Rice. I'm applying to Houston Teacher's Institute with University of Houston/HISD.

Plus you would believe the gigabytes of stuff I've downloaded! People are putting whole discographies online these days!

Well, got to get up at 4:30, its a teaching day tomorrow, so I'm out of here! Hope someone is visiting here!
